To age and give texture to your paintwork apply the clear wax first then apply apply the dark wax. Wipe off the excess then use the clear wax to take more off if you need to, but leave the dark wax in the recesses. You can color the dark wax to make it less brown by using a little of our paint in the wax. Use Old White to make white wax or a bit of Aubusson to make the wax almost black. Apply with a brush or rag.
HOW TO USE:
Apply Clear Wax with a cloth or brush over dry Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®. The wax will appear to darken the paint, but on drying it won’t be so apparent. For a distressed finish, rub gently with fine sandpaper AFTER applying the Clear Wax (while wax is still wet), then wax again. For a more pronounced aged look use Dark Wax over the Clear Wax, working it into any brush textures and removing excess with the clear wax. Finally buff with a cloth.
To maintain your furniture use a spray cleaner and re-wax. Annie Sloan Soft Wax is water repellent so it can be used on kitchen cabinets and table tops- apply two coats of wax, letting the coats dry in between, and buff to a high sheen. Soft Wax is not recommended for areas with a lot of water. Wax brushes should be washed in hot soapy water immediately after use.’
