Ahhh, August. I have a love/hate relationship with August. I love summer weather, HOT summer weather. But August seems to be our last hurrah to summer, you know the drill…fairs, lake days, last chance summer getaways…and then the school shopping. Exciting to get those kids back in school, yet sad that summer is winding down. So what do I do to tilt the scales on my sadness that “Winter Is Coming” (in my best Game of Thrones voice)?? Well, other than the obvious parental rejoicing that one kid is headed back to school (can I get an Amen!?!), I look for fun places where I can spend that money I’ll be pocketing after getting that school-ager out of full-time daycare! And let me tell you fellow mamas…The Artisan Market is Coming!!! Let us rejoice in all that is chippy, rusty and beautifully handmade and put those hard-earned dollars you’ve been putting toward childcare into something tangible. (Quick, before your spouse even notices!) That Amanda, I’m pretty sure she thought of that when she planned the first Artisan Market in September.
The fun starts in the backyard of our Independence store on Thursday, September 10 and continues on Friday and Saturday…right alongside our September Occasional Sale. So you can check out our Fab Indy Mamas’ work for the month and head outside to enjoy some local music, food and shop an additional 30+ artists as you browse tent-to-tent-to-tent. Bring your friends and make a day out of it. We’ll have spots to sit and chat, there’ll be Annie Sloan Chalk Paint demos and the vendors love to chat and get to know you all. Allow me to introduce you to a couple of them:
The live music on Thursday, September 10th will be none other than local favorite Shane Martin! Check his music out at www.shanemartin.com. For those who have joined us in previous years, you already know how great he is! We’re thrilled to have you back again this year Shane!
This year we’re thrilled to welcome an artist whose work we’ve been privileged to recently begin carrying in our shops! Tinley Innes creates under the name FreestyleMom or FSM Designs. You can find her at www.fsmdesigns.com and at all Mama’s Happy locations!
Tinley’s business got started after she was making award boards for her son’s competitive swimming medals (they’re awesome, by the way). From there she started making signs for weddings which she’s all too familiar with as she was an event planner in her previous life!
She’s looking forward to meeting you at the market, getting your feedback on her creations and she’s also excited to meet the other local artists. One thing’s for sure…you’re gonna love her and her fabulous style (and we think she’ll find you pretty great too).
Here’s a few of her things that may make an appearance, but we know whatever she brings, it’s gonna be great. And it’s gonna be gone…fast!
Be sure to follow us on Facebook and spread the word about the Mama’s Artisan Market! We’ve got an event page set up where you can follow to stay up-to-date on all the latest and greatest Artisan Market news.
