Whew!! What a blur April has been so far! I wanted to take a minute and recap what we’ve been up to this month and what we’ve got coming up.
Let’s see…we had our April Occasional Sale, then Junk Bonanza and this upcoming weekend several of the Mamas are heading out to Fargo to a Design Conference hosted by Eco Chic Boutique with special guests Joanna and Chip Gaines from Fixer Upper on HGTV!! Those of us going may all be a bit star-struck and giddy to be in the same room with them. Ok, we totally are! And for those of us who aren’t able to go (yours truly included), we are
a little totally jealous!! But have no fear, I have instructed those going to be sure to take ample pictures and send to me so I can share with all of you! So be sure to keep a close eye on Facebook and Instagram this Saturday, with any luck you’ll see some of your favorite Mamas with the stars of Fixer Upper. We can’t wait to hear all the great ideas they’ll be coming back with!
To all of you who came out to Junk Bonanza last week, thank you so, so much! You all keep us going even after several long days on our feet. There’s not much that makes us happier than seeing others get as excited over our stuff as we do. It was so much fun seeing our “regular” customer-friends we know and love and meeting new ones! We had such a fun time and we hope you did too. I’m not sure that any of us left there empty handed! There were so many great finds! Here’s a tiny little sampling of what we were up to if you didn’t stop out.
We have another event coming up on Tuesday, April 28 at our St. Louis Park store: Ladies Night Out with Makeover Madness! We have Lindsey Kuhn stopping by to make over a couple Mamas and give you ideas on how to make over your wardrobe with easy fixes that anyone can do. We’ll also be demoing a few paint projects in store, so stop in, have some refreshments and get a few tips for you and your home this spring!
Since Wednesday is Earth Day, I started thinking… Mama’s Happy is all about saving old cast-offs from the dumpsters of MN. In fact, several of us go looking IN those dumpsters (there is no shame). In honor of Earth Day, I thought I’d show a little makeover that I did last week to some well-loved and worn out side tables. We have had these little babies from Target for years. Truth be told, I never thought I’d actually keep them this long but they come in handy and once you have kids your wish list grows and side tables go down to the waaaaay bottom of the list to spend money on. So these little tables are still in our home. In fact, I’m pretty sure my 3 year old wouldn’t be too happy if I got rid of his makeshift snack table. So I decided it was time to give them a little facelift. A coat of Annie Sloan’s Duck Egg blue, a little light sanding and a little light and dark wax and they’re looking oh so much better. And it didn’t even take more than an hour of my time total, minus the long breaks I took between steps (we’re talking a day between each step because it was nice out and the aforementioned 3-year old…you could totally do this in a day).
And finally finished, stacked and back in use:
It’s amazing how a little bit of paint can make something so little fit right into the room instead of being an eyesore we tried to hide. Plus, you’ll see I only used a sample pot for this project and I still have some left. It’s a great way to experiment with some color!
And also in honor of Earth Day, I’ve asked the Mamas to send me some pictures of their gardens. I just love to see all the green popping out of the ground! Look at all that green!! I think a garden tour may be in order in the next month or so, don’t you?
One last thing before I go…we are all working out details for our in-store events over Mother’s Day weekend. All 3 stores will be open and you’ll want to be sure to stop in. We’ll have lots of gift ideas for all the Mamas in your life (and we see absolutely nothing wrong with treating yourself while you’re at it!) and rumor has it that there may be some giveaways going on too. Keep and eye out for more details soon. Trust me, you’ll want to stop in and send your loved ones in with a wish list. They can’t go wrong at Mama’s Happy!
